The aim of Novel Solutions to Wicked Problems is to build a community of explorers looking for thinking models and frameworks that will enable them to find new perspectives and approaches to unlocking problems that appear to be intractable when using only conventional methods.
At its heart, the project will draw upon many ideas and practices that emerge from or are founded in the Global South. This is because novel approaches to problem-solving often emerge here in circumstances that are distinctive and unfamiliar to many conventional management thinkers. But our appetite to explore novelty will include other new thinking and even ideas that we seem to have forgotten to remember.
The factors that shape these distinctive approaches can be many and varied, including different philosophical perspectives, cultural factors, regulatory environments, perceptions of risk, agency, and collaborative models.
In this programme, we encourage our explorers to analyse what factors are at play in the development of novel approaches, whether they are replicable, and whether we can free our thinking by approaching our own problems from these differing positions.
Over time, we will develop resources, stimulate debate, share case studies, and grow a toolbox of ideas, approaches, and strategies to unlock seemingly intractable problems.
We will also be running practical trips to experience novel approaches in action!
Join in and pack your bags to explore with us.
